Why Edmonton Drivers Sell Their Cars to Us
Most people who call us have already tried something else. They listed the car on Marketplace and got lowballed, or the dealership offered $300 on a trade, or a "we buy any car" place quoted one number on the phone and a much lower one in the driveway. We built this business to fix exactly those problems.
Edmonton pickups · all seasonsThe quote doesn't change in your driveway
Price-dropping at the door is the oldest trick in this industry. A buyer quotes high to win the job, then finds "problems" once the truck is there and you're too tired to argue. We ask the right questions up front: does it start, does it roll, are any parts missing, are the catalytic converter and wheels still on it. If what we find matches what you told us, the price stays put.
We pay for what the car is actually worth
There's no single flat rate here. A 2009 Corolla with a blown head gasket is worth more than a 1998 Cavalier with the same problem, because the Corolla has parts people still buy. We look at weight, current steel prices, which parts can be resold and whether the car could go back on the road after repairs. That's how you end up with a fair offer instead of a generic one.
Towing really is free
Some buyers bury a $100 to $150 towing charge inside the offer. Ours isn't hidden anywhere. Whether the car is in a Downtown parkade, a Mill Woods cul-de-sac or an acreage past the Henday, the tow costs you nothing.
We show up when we say we will
Book a time and we'll be there in that window. If something comes up on our side, we call you before the window starts, not after.
How Selling Your Car Works
Firm quote. A booked pickup window. Payment before loading.
Get your quote.
Call, text or use the form. Give us the year, make, model, rough kilometres and the main problems. Photos help, especially for body damage.
Pick a pickup time.
Same day if you call early enough, otherwise tomorrow or the weekend. Morning, afternoon or evening.
Hand over the keys and get paid.
Our driver checks the vehicle and your ID, you both sign the bill of sale, and payment goes to you before we load the car. The whole visit usually takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Take your licence plates off before we leave.
In Alberta the plates stay with you, not the car. Then call your insurer and cancel or move the coverage, using the bill of sale as proof.

How Much Is My Car Worth in Edmonton?
The honest answer is that it depends, but not in a vague way. These are the five things that decide your offer, roughly in order of how much they move the price.
Can it be sold or driven again? A car that runs and could be safetied after a reasonable repair is worth far more than its scrap weight.
Year, make and model. Popular models have more demand for used parts. A Honda Civic or F-150 alternator sells; a part for a rare import may not.
Weight. For a car with no resale value, steel is most of the price. A full-size pickup can weigh twice what a compact car weighs, and it's priced that way.
What's still on it. The catalytic converter, aluminum wheels, battery, engine and transmission all count. If any of these are gone, tell us so the quote is right the first time.
Where it is and how we get to it. A car on a driveway is easy. A car buried in a snowbank or sitting in a low-clearance parkade takes more work, but we'll still come.
Be careful with phone quotes that sound too good. If one buyer is $500 higher than everyone else, ask them directly whether the number is guaranteed on pickup. We'd rather give you a real number than a high one that shrinks.
Selling a Car in Edmonton Without the Headaches
Private sale vs selling to us
| Private sale | Dealer trade-in | Best Cash 4 Cars | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accepts non-running cars | Rarely | Rarely, at a low value | Yes |
| Time to sell | Days to weeks | Same day, but only if you're buying | Usually same or next day |
| Strangers at your house | Many | None | One driver, at a booked time |
| Towing cost | Yours to arrange | Yours to arrange if it doesn't run | Free |
| Paperwork | You figure it out | Handled | Handled |

What you need on pickup day
- Vehicle registration in your name (or proof you have the legal right to sell it)
- Original, valid government photo ID. You must be 18 or older.
- The keys, if you have them. No keys is fine; just let us know ahead of time.
- A lien release, if there was ever a loan on the car
Selling for a family member, an estate or a business? Call first. It's very doable, but the paperwork is different and we'd rather sort it out before the truck shows up. See our bill of sale guide for what Alberta requires.
Built Around Edmonton Weather and Roads
A lot of the cars we buy were killed by the same few things, and anyone who's lived through a few Edmonton winters will recognise them.
Deep cold. When it sits near -30°C for a week, weak batteries die, block heater cords crack, diesel gels and older engines with tired seals give up. A cracked block on a car with 250,000 km is usually the end.
Potholes. Spring on the Yellowhead, Whitemud and 97 Street means bent rims, broken springs and front ends that won't hold an alignment. On an older car, those repairs cost more than the car is worth.
Road salt. Months of de-icer eat brake lines, rocker panels and frames from underneath. Rust is the number-one reason older trucks fail inspection here.
Summer hail. A single July storm can write off thousands of cars. If your insurer paid out and let you keep the car, it still has value to us.

We plan pickups around this too. Our drivers carry shovels in winter, and we use winches and wheel dollies for cars that are frozen in place, sitting on flat tires or missing wheels.

Got a Dead Car on Your Property or Street?
A car that doesn't move can turn into a bigger problem than people expect. Edmonton limits how long a vehicle can stay parked on a city street, and a car that sits too long can be ticketed and towed to an impound lot, where storage fees add up daily. On private property, a wrecked or dismantled vehicle in plain view can lead to a neighbour complaint through 311 and an order to clean it up.
If you've got a notice on the windshield or a letter from the City, call us. We can usually get the car out before the deadline and pay you for it, which beats paying impound fees.
Call [PHONE]Recycled the Right Way
When a car can't go back on the road, it's taken apart properly. Fluids like oil, coolant, fuel and refrigerant are drained and recycled. The battery and tires go to approved recyclers. Reusable parts are pulled and sold, and the shell goes to a licensed shredder so the steel can be melted down and used again. None of it ends up in a ditch or a field.

What Our Customers Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you buy cars that don't run?+
Yes. A big share of the cars we buy don't start, won't move or have a seized engine. Tell us whether it rolls and whether the wheels are on so we send the right truck.
Is the towing really free?+
Yes, anywhere in Edmonton and the surrounding towns we list. The offer we give you is the amount you receive. Nothing is subtracted for the tow.
How fast can you pick up my car?+
Most cars are picked up the same day or the next day. Call before noon and same-day pickup is likely, depending on where you are.
How do I get paid?+
By e-transfer at pickup, before your car is loaded. Alberta's scrap metal rules require traceable payment for scrap transactions, so be cautious of any buyer offering a stack of bills for a scrap vehicle.
Can I sell a car without the registration or with a lost title?+
Often yes, as long as you're the legal owner and we can confirm it. Alberta doesn't use paper titles the way some provinces do; ownership is tied to registration. Call us and we'll explain what proof works in your situation.
Do I need to be there for the pickup?+
Usually, because the registered owner needs to show ID and sign the bill of sale. If that's impossible, call us to arrange signed authorization ahead of time.
Do you buy cars with a loan still on them?+
Only once the lien is cleared. If you still owe money, call your lender for a payout amount first. In some cases we can work with you and the lender, but we can't take a car with an active lien.
Can I keep my licence plates?+
Yes, and you should. In Alberta the plates belong to you, so remove them before the car leaves.
What happens to my car after you buy it?+
If it's repairable, it may be fixed and resold. If not, useful parts are pulled and the rest is recycled. Either way, it's handled under Alberta's rules for vehicle and scrap metal recycling.
